How many times have you painted a room in your home only to be disappointed with the finished results? I know I have, so I was excited when Jeanette Chasworth, interior designer contacted me to review her book “What’s COLOR Got To Do With it?” Paint Color Ideas that Create Balance and Harmony in Your Home. At 33 years old my husband and I purchased our first home. We were so excited to begin the process of painting and making it our own. Of course the first rooms we wanted to tackle were the kitchen and living room. After completing them we were happy with the color choices of the living room but not happy with the sheen that we were recommended to use. The color we chose for our kitchen was great at first but after the first year of living here I wanted to change the color. Something about it just didn’t sit right with me. I couldn’t explain it.
Now that I’ve read “What’s COLOR Got To Do With it?” I’ve found the answers. Did you know that colors can affect your mood and how others perceive us? When you come into your home you should feel like your home is hugging you.
I’ve learned how colors work together to achieve peace not only for myself but for my family. Each color has a different meaning and reflects differently. For example green (the color of my kitchen) is calm, fosters protection & emotionally healing. Different shades of green have different benefits. “Green is a great color in many environments. It can be used in any room although it can tinge the taste of food, so try it before you use it in your dining room or kitchen.” Oops! I think I know why I chose the green to begin with and why using it in my kitchen probably wasn’t my greatest idea. But thanks to this awesome book I now feel confident in tackling the rest of the untouched rooms in my house. I have found my true color and I know what my season is.
So if you’ve been putting off painting those white walls or if you’re unhappy with the results you got the first time you painted, I encourage you to pick up a copy of “What’s COLOR Got To Do With it? by Jeanette Chasworth. Let her guide you through color and it’s effects so you can truly be hugged by your home.

Yes, big time. Seems like I change my mind later on about something.
I usually let my husband make the final decision. I can decide blue. But then get antsy with the different shades
