We all go on vacation to escape or to have a nice time with our family. Often, however, we don’t consider the many advantages a vacation can bring us, besides its relaxation and adventures. A good vacation will leave you better off as a person, whether it’s by making you healthier, making you more confident, making you braver, or making you more powerful. Let’s explore four of the ways a vacation helps round you out as an individual.
A More Powerful You
You might think that, in order to get ahead in life, you have to work excessive hours. While hard work and time clocked plays a part in job success, another part is to know when to take breaks. Studies have proven that you’re actually more productive when you take the proper number of breaks, so taking one long vacation, or several short vacations, every year will help increase your productivity. If you want to unleash your full power, take a vacation.
A More Confident You
Sometimes, we don’t feel great about ourselves. In fact, roughly 85% of people struggle with self-esteem. If that applies to you, on a daily or a sometimes basis, then you could use a bit of a confidence booster. Sometimes all it takes to improve our self esteem is to start treating ourselves differently. When we take good care of something, we realize it’s value–so we can even gain confidence by taking ourselves on vacation. Even more than being a nice thing to do, vacations can really boost our confidence by giving us new experiences. When we travel to Hawaii and take Advanced Surf Lessons, we end up gaining confidence through our new talent. Never underestimate the power of self-care and saying “yes” to experiences–you might find that your vacation was just what you needed to get yourself out of a confidence rut.
A Healthier You
One of the best advantages vacations offer is improved health. Did you know that vacations can lower your risk of heart issues, reduce your stress, and help you sleep better at night? Work frustration can build up until it becomes a health concern, so in order to diffuse some of that pent-up stress, take a vacation. You’ll find that after you relax at a Mackinac island hotel, you’ll have less stress, and feel better about life in general.
A Braver You
Some vacations are all about relaxing, and not about trying new things. Quite a few vacations, however, give you the opportunity to do all sorts of things you wouldn’t do at home. Eating snails, spelunking, and going parachuting are only a few of the “scary” things you might find to do while on vacation. Instead of being timid and letting a life opportunity pass you by, you often find that you’re more daring on vacation, and you do things you might not have tried at home. Memories of the crazy things you did while on your trip will help remind you that you’re a pretty brave person after all.
